Choosing a Stairlift

Finding the right stairlift for you

The first thing you should do is consider which type of stairlift is right for you.

From straight stairlifts to curved stairlifts, narrow stairlifts and perch stairlifts there are many different types of stairlifts to choose from and we can supply what you need from the West and East Midlands down to Hertfordshire and beyond.

Also review the mobility and specific needs of the person who will potentially need a stair lift to get up and down the stairs safely, at Anglia Stairlifts we will ask about the mobility and needs of the person that will be using the lift. It helps both you and our sales consultant to determine whether or not a stair lift is, in fact, the best solution. Once that is determined, it will then be much easier to look into the different types of lifts available and consider any options that may be needed.

Consider stairlift options to suit your staircase

The style of your staircase will dictate how you choose a stairlift. Below is a list of common types of stairs and the stairlift options that would be required for these types of options.

Straight stairs – It is possible to fit a stairlift to almost all types of traditional staircases. If your stairs are a single flight and ascend in a straight line, then you can easily have a straight stairlift fitted. This is the most cost-effective type of stairlift and installation usually takes a couple of hours.

Curved stairs or an intermediate landing – If your stairs have a curve, then you will need a curved stairlift. Curved stairlifts are created bespoke so can end up being more expensive than straight ones, but as they are created to the individual staircase, this makes them far more versatile.

What is your budget?

You will need to assess your budget. ‘How much will a stairlift cost me?’
The question, however, is not straightforward, as one may assume. Due to the wide variety of staircases, and the bespoke nature of installing them, the cost of stairlifts can vary. There are also various options Anglia Stairlifts can offer, including new and reconditioned options, which our consultant will discuss with you.

Consider which features suit your needs

It’s a good idea to look at the features you may want on your stairlift. From easy to use remote controls to powered swivel seats allowing for easy access at the top and bottom of the stairs and even down to the seating position, these features can help your stairlift feel truly yours.

After sales and support

Not all companies offer an after sales service or even additional warranty, once you’ve chosen you ideal stairlift and have agreed on what best meets your requirements, always consider what warranty you will offered and what’s included. (see our Aftercare page)

Aftercare

It is exceptionally important after purchasing a Stairlift that you give it the aftercare that it deserves and continue to keep caring for your stairlift for years to come.

At Anglia Stairlifts, we pride ourselves on our aftercare service, we offer a 2-year warranty on new lifts which cover, parts, labour, service(s) and in the unlikely event of a breakdown we offer a call out service too within the 2-year warranty. After the 2-year period is over, you can purchase continued warranty cover on a yearly basis.
